Ratings

A rating system is used by all instructors to asses weekly lesson performance. Ratings are recorded in students' assignment books as well as the instructor's records. Students' names are posted in the school lobby for the month in which they receive three "Superior" ratings.

The purpose is twofold:

1.) Strong positive motivation for students' improved performance.

2.) Weekly communication between parents and the instructor regarding progress and expectations. Ratings also serve as an aid in determining recital award eligibility each Spring. Students receiving the highest ratings of Excellent and Superior each week come to their lessons extremely well practiced and prepared. Superior students additionally come to classes with new lessons that they've begun preparing on their own.

3.) Ratings are optional for adult students and any student should their use affect the joy, enthusiasm, and love of the performing arts.
