RATING SCALES:
A rating system is used by all instructors
to assess weekly lesson performance. Ratings are recorded in
students' assignment books as well as the instructor's records.
Students' names are posted in the school for the month in which they
receive three consecutive "Superior" ratings.
The purpose
is twofold: 1) strong positive motivation for students' improved
performance, and 2) weekly communication between parents and teacher
regarding progress and expectations. Ratings also serve as an aid in
determining yearly
recital
awards. Each student and parent is given a detailed explanation of
the standards required to receive the highest ratings. Ratings are
optional, however, should their use affect the joy, enthusiasm, and
love of the music.
