We understand that it can be difficult for beginners to feel like they are making an educated decision when ultimately choosing one school, teacher, or program over another.
It is for this reason that we've prepared two helpful articles so that you can find out what you need to know before getting started in music lessons or dance classes.

The Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts (LAAPA) is a private academy of the performing arts offering music lessons and dance classes at our three campus locations in Covington, Mandeville, and New Orleans, LA. Our schools serve students and parents from the surrounding communities of New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, River Ridge, Harahan, Slidell, Madisonville, and Folsom, LA.
Originally founded in 1978, the Academy is now in its 35th year of providing students of all ages with a lifetime appreciation for the performing arts here in the Greater New Orleans area.
At LAAPA we offer a wide variety of music and dance programs for children as well as adults. Our faculty members make each lesson fun and enjoy teaching students at all levels from beginning through advanced.
Our music and dance programs include lessons, classes, and instruction in electric & acoustic guitar, electric bass, voice, piano, violin, viola, cello, trumpet, french horn, trombone, tuba, flute, clarinet, saxophone, drums, composition, choir, rock band, jazz band, string ensemble, preschool music, ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, creative movement, parent and tot, and summer music and dance camps.
Numerous studies have concluded that education in the performing arts increases memory and coordination skills, enhances student academic performance, increases self-esteem, and of course provides a wonderful creative and emotional outlet.
At LAAPA, we strive to make each lesson fun and enjoyable! We teach the songs, styles, and steps students are interested in learning! From classical, to rock/pop, jazz, blues, hip-hop, funk, christian, and more.
Whether you're a brand new beginner to the performing arts or experienced and ready to take your training to the next level, our professional, University Degreed Faculty will customize a lesson plan for you based on your needs and goals.
As a parent of student, we realize that you have many choices when selecting a school of music, school of dance, dance instructor, or a private music teacher. All schools and private instructors are not the same. We invite you to compare all programs, features, and options to see why more parents and students choose to enroll with LAAPA.
