Music & Dance Programs for Adults
LAAPA provides instruction to students of all ages including adults!
Perhaps you've always wanted to play a certain instrument but never had the time until now? Perhaps you took music lessons or dance classes years ago as a child and have been meaning to take them up again? Perhaps you're a professional preparing for upcoming auditions or recording sessions?
At LAAPA, many adult students study with us each week. Your instructor at LAAPA will customize a lesson plan for you based on your interests and goals. We are happy to teach adult students at any level from beginning to advanced. Lessons and classes are provided in a fun, low pressure environment.
Adults may choose to study in any of our programs as it truly is never too late to start a new music or dance program! Participation in our recitals of course is optional (as it is for all of our students)! For more information, browse our complete list of program offerings here.
Here is what our adult students are saying about their music and dance instruction here at LAAPA!
"Hi Everyone, up until the day I started here I did not and could not read music at all. I tried to learn on the internet but was getting nowhere. I am 59 years old and my wife signed me up about 6 months ago. The school and the staff have been wonderful I can not say thanks enough, Cyrena is always helpful and with a smile on her face. Now as far as my instructor Gabriel well his is just fantastic!!! He has shown me so many things and has been very patient with me. I really cannot thank him enough. I guess I have gone on long enough so I'll just say that LAAPA is a great place and I hope to continue to attend classes for quite some time to come." ~ Vernon Rodrigue
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the River Ridge school, in particular, Cyrena Adkins and my wonderful violin teacher Kate Withrow. I am 61 years old and started taking violin lessons a little over a year ago. A few months ago my wife was diagnosed with cancer and in order to get the best care for her it was necessary for us to move to Houston. I thought I would have to give up the violin. Fortunately for me, Cyrena came up with the idea that I could do lessons on Skype and Kate agreed to do it. Although it is not the same as hands on, I am still able to enjoy the violin. With my wife being sick and all that goes with it, it is nice to be able to take some time to play the violin and forget about everything else, even if it is only for half an hour. Thanks to all." ~ John Fore
"Denise is my teacher at LAAPA. Every week I leave her class believing in myself. She makes me want to study even more. You are the best teacher Denise and I am so fortunate to study with you. Thank you!" ~ Tina Tabor
"As an adult student of The River Ridge School of Music and Dance, I highly recommend the programs to students of all ages. I have been singing since I was a child and after graduating college I was looking for a place to keep practicing and improving. After extensive research into available programs in the area, I decided to enroll. I was very pleased and surprised to find such a diverse offering of programs backed by a supportive and enthusiastic staff. I have been taking voice lessons with Bonnie for over a year now, building a strong repertoire and sharpening my skills as a singer. I would absolutely recommend The River Ridge School of Music and Dance to musicians of all ages and levels looking for a quality program." ~ Amanda Hale
