Are You going to win an iPad Mini?

Music, Piano, Guitar, Voice Classes at Laapa

It was just about one year ago now that we made a substantial technological investment in the Academy by installing new iPads in each teaching studio at all three of our campuses. Loaded with all of the latest educational apps, our students and faculty have been utilizing them to the fullest, making each lesson here at LAAPA even more enriching.

When asked last year what our teachers thought of our schoolwide iPad install, they said:
"They are a great tool to work on music theory especially. It is a new way to get the kids engaged and excited. It keeps their attention in a whole new way. The ability to record the students and let them hear themselves is really cool too." ~ Meredith Bradley, voice/piano faculty
"To see them really engaged is awesome for a teacher. Also, having another visual, aural, tactical activity keeps their minds active in another musical way than playing their instrument or looking at their book is important." ~ Denise Bonis, violin/piano/theory faculty
For those of you with iPads at home - a huge part of properly utilizing the iPad for education is knowing which apps are best to use. Over the next few newsletters, I'll be personally reviewing many of the apps we use and hopefully some new ones as well so that you can download them to complement your practice sessions at home. If you just can't wait for my reviews, you can always ask your teacher for some recommendations!
Seeing firsthand what wonderful pieces of technology the iPads have been here for the education of our students, we decided to give not one, but two away to our current and former students this year!
We are so extremely grateful to you our students and parents who continue to refer us to your friends, colleagues, and associates day after day, month after month, etc. Your referrals are the highest compliment we can receive here at LAAPA, and we wanted to do something extraordinary for our current and former students who continue to refer the Academy to new students.
As of March through May 29, 2014, if you refer a new student to the Academy and they enroll, you AND your friend will be automatically entered in our DOUBLE iPad Mini raffle!
Please make sure that your friend mentions your FULL NAME at the time of enrollment.
The more friends you refer that enroll - the more chances you have to win!
Sound to good to be true?- Click below to watch my trip to Best Buy where I personally picked up the iPad minis!
Winners will be announced on Friday, May 30 ONLY via our Facebook page at facebook.com/laapaface, so be sure to like us.
Good luck to everyone!

Summer Music & Dance Camp - Now Enrolling

Register Now for Summer Music & Dance Camps at the Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts in New Orleans, LA

New Orleans Summer Camp for Music and DanceIt's hard to believe that it ALREADY time to start making your summer activity plans! Summer will be here before you know it and so will our 2014 Summer Music & Dance Camps held this year from July 7-25 at the River Ridge School of Music & Dance and the Mandeville School of Music.

Our Summer Music Camps and Summer Dance Camps provide all campers (ages 5-16, beginning, intermediate, and advanced) with the opportunity to choose and explore up to five of our instrumental, vocal, and performing arts programs.

For Brand New Beginners with Little or No Experience...

Campers are able to explore our various programs and see what program(s) interest them!

Perhaps your child has shown an interest in music, dance, piano, singing, guitar, violin, drums (just to name a few!)? Wherever his/her interest lies, we are happy to provide a formal introduction to the programs of your choice in a structured and fun environment!

At the conclusion of each week of camp, the faculty members write a brief overview of your child's aptitude for each program/instrument which is extremely helpful in determining which program/instrument would be a good match in terms of regular classes and private lessons.

For Experienced Students...

Our camps also provide experienced students with the opportunity to try out other programs of interest or may also serve as an opportunity for concentrated study to accelerate proficiency and to generate motivation... giving new life to the student's instrument or vocal study.

All Students...

At the end of each day of camp, all students come together for performance classes which feature what they have learned that day in camp!

In order to maintain a balanced atmosphere of fun, creativity, and education, only 25 students are admitted each week.

Is your child younger than age 5? For ages birth-4, we recommend our Preschool Music Program which includes signing, singing, music & movement, percussion, and more!

Additional information including programs offered may be found on our summer camp at laapa.com/camp
