A Few Things to Know Before You Sign Up

We’ll share more details as we get closer to concert weekend, but for now, please plan to keep the full recital day available. We expect to have several concerts throughout the day, with performances running approximately 8:30 AM–9:00 PM on Saturday and 8:30 AM–7:00 PM on Sunday.

Your student’s specific concert time will be announced in early December. With hundreds of performances to schedule — along with teacher availability, siblings, accompanists, student ages, and program variety — we’re unfortunately not able to guarantee special scheduling requests in advance.

If you already know your student has a conflict during part of the recital day, please keep that in mind before signing up.

Regular lessons will not be held Saturday, December 5 at the Mandeville Campus or Saturday, December 19 at the River Ridge Campus so that our students and faculty can enjoy the concerts together.

Choosing Your Music

  • Each student may perform one piece per program of study.
  • Each selection must be 2 minutes or less.
  • The selection does not need to be Christmas or holiday themed.
  • Solo selections and original compositions must be completely memorized.
  • Concert dress is holiday festive / dressy casual.

Accompanists

Some instrumental and vocal performances — including voice, guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, and similar programs — may need an accompanist. Your teacher can help you determine whether one is needed for your student’s selection.

The accompanist fee is $45 and includes 30 minutes of rehearsal time with the accompanist (or rehearsal time coordinated with the instructor during the lesson), as well as accompaniment on concert day.

If your student would benefit from additional rehearsal time, extra accompanist sessions are available for $45 per 30-minute session and can be scheduled through the Front Desk.

Getting Ready for the Concert

Signing up is exciting, and we want every student to feel confident and proud when they walk on stage. All solos and original compositions should be memorized and performance-ready by the last week of November 2026.

During the first week of December, each participating student will do a formal run-through during their regular lesson. At that point, the teacher will:

  • Give the performance the green light,
  • Approve it with a recommendation for a little extra rehearsal, or
  • Recommend waiting until the next recital if that will give the student a better experience.
Our goal is for every student to feel prepared and successful on stage. Solo performers should be ready to perform from memory. Sheet music may still be used for duets, ensembles, and accompaniment.

Video & Live Streaming

We’ll also be offering professionally recorded HD videos of each performance as digital downloads. If you order a video, it will be sent to the email address used during concert registration.

Want to see what the finished videos look like? Here are a few examples from past LAAPA music recitals.

Click any sample to watch the finished recital video on YouTube.

We’ll also livestream the concerts at laapa.com/live so family and friends who can’t be there in person can still watch. Please keep in mind that the livestream is a best-effort service and depends on the venue’s internet connection.

Your Performances Will Bring Hope To Local Families in Need

There’s no admission charge for our Christmas concerts, and students are welcome to invite as many family members and friends as they’d like.

Each year, we also use these concerts as an opportunity to support Angels’ Place, a local nonprofit that provides respite care and ongoing support to children with life-threatening diagnoses and their families. If you’re able to give, we’d be grateful for any donation you’d like to make in place of purchasing tickets.

Angels’ Place is headquartered at 4323 Division St., Suite 206, Metairie, LA. Please note that we’re unable to accept physical gift donations this year.

After You Sign Up

Once your registration goes through, you should receive a confirmation email shortly afterward.

If you don’t receive a confirmation email, please contact the Front Desk so we can make sure your registration came through successfully.
