This summer, the Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts brings the electrifying Broadway hit Newsies to the stage! Featuring music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein, this high-energy musical is inspired by the true story of the 1899 Newsboys’ Strike.
Follow charismatic newsboy Jack Kelly and his band of determined friends as they rally together to stand up against powerful newspaper publishers in turn-of-the-century New York City. Packed with thrilling choreography and unforgettable songs like “Seize the Day,” Newsies is a bold, uplifting celebration of courage, friendship, and the power of young voices making a difference.
